Tannum Sands is located on the Central Queensland Coast, just 20 minutes south of Gladstone, and 9 km off the Bruce Highway by sealed road.  It is linked by bridge to its twin town of Boyne Island.  The area is renowned for its beautiful foreshore parks, fishing and crabbing, and offers 15 km of pedestrian and cycle paths through parks and the beach front, and long stretches of sandy beaches where the water is warm enough for year round swimming.  Tannum Indoor Sports Centre is situated just 500 metres from the beach, on the corner of Creek Rd and Steel Street.
